I heard about this school from my friends in the colony. It is a good school and the children are doing well. The current national government`s “Double Farmer Income by 2022” program calls for increased agricultural productivity, development initiatives such as Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, and a greater focus on technological innovation. The government expects KVKs to help disseminate information and practices related to these new government initiatives. The teacher is very supportive. My child had to miss school for a month due to a family issue and the school supported us in every way possible. I just moved to the city and this school was suggested to me by many peers and family friends.

Looks like a good school. A KVK can be trained from a variety of host institutions, including agricultural universities, ministries, ICAR institutes, other educational institutions or NGOs. The 700 KVK in operation, according to the ICAR website, are divided into: 458 among state agricultural universities, 18 among central agricultural universities, 64 among ICAR institutes, 105 among NGOs, 39 among state departments or other public enterprises, and 16 among other miscellaneous educational institutions. The Education Commission (1964-66) recommended that vigorous efforts be made to establish specialized institutions providing pre- and post-registration vocational training in agriculture and related fields to meet the educational needs of large numbers of boys and girls in rural areas. The Commission has also proposed that these institutions be called “agricultural colleges”.

The Commission`s recommendation has been discussed extensively: 1966-72 by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Planning Commission, the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and other related institutions. Finally, ICAR discussed the idea of establishing Krishi Vigyan Kendras (Agricultural Science Centers) as innovative institutions for vocational training of working farmers, early dropouts and field expansion officials. The ICAR Standing Committee on Agricultural Education stated at its meeting in August 1973 that, since the establishment of the Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVK) was of national importance, which would contribute to the acceleration of agricultural production as well as to the improvement of the socio-economic conditions of the agricultural community, the support of all institutions concerned in the implementation of this programme should be sought. The ICAR therefore formed a committee in 1973 under the leadership of Dr. Mohan Singh Mehta of Seva Mandir, Udaipur, Rajasthan, to develop a detailed plan for the implementation of this program. The Committee submitted its report in 1974. A Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) is an agricultural advisory centre in India. The centres are linked to a local agricultural university and serve as a link between the Indian Council of Agricultural Research and farmers to apply agricultural research in a practical and localized environment. All KVKs fall under the jurisdiction of one of the 11 Agricultural Technology Applications Research Institutes (ATARIs) in India.

The first KVK was established in 1974 in Pondicherry (Pondicherry) under the administrative control of the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University in Coimbatore. There are currently 721 KVKs, of which 498 are in State Agricultural Universities (SAU) and Central Agricultural University (CAU), 66 in ICAR institutes, 104 in NGOs, 38 in state governments and the rest in other educational institutions.
