The University of Toronto is Canada`s highest-ranked university at 16th.
Fourteen other Canadian universities are represented in the ranking. Times Higher Education ranked the top universities for law degrees. Stanford University in the United States occupies the first place, followed by the University of Cambridge. A quarter of the universities in the legal ranking are located in the United States. Harvard Law School, Yale Law School and Stanford Law School have ranked in the top three for more than a decade. Together they are called HYS. Stanford University topped the rankings for the fourth year in a row. There are three new entries in the top 10: australian University of Melbourne is fifth (from 11th), National University of Singapore is eighth (from 12th) and KU Leuven is 10th (from 25th place together). T14 refers to the top 14 law schools.
The group is fairly consistent, although the University of Texas at Austin Law School recently pushed Georgetown Law School to 14th place in the U.S. News & World Report ranking. The University of Melbourne JD is the only degree offered by the Faculty of Law that allows graduates to enter the legal profession in all Australian jurisdictions.
